Tilt-Up Construction Goes "Green"
Greensleeves LLC, announced today that LJB Inc. and Greensleeves have signed an agreement to develop and market high performance tilt-up buildings that use 35 to 50 percent less energy than conventional buildings.

Michael Linn, President and CEO of Greensleeves LLC, announced today that LJB Inc. and Greensleeves have signed an agreement to develop and market high performance tilt-up buildings that use 35 to 50 percent less energy than conventional buildings. LJB and Greensleeves will work together to integrate an energy harvesting, storage and distribution system into the building shell itself. By doing this, the building will use less external energy without increasing construction costs.
“Tilt-up construction has always had long-term advantages, held its value and required less maintenance. According to Linn, tilt-up construction is ideal for creating an energy-efficient building without spending more on the system.
“Construction costs are approximately 11 percent of the life-cycle costs of a building, but energy represents approximately 27 percent of the life-cycle cost. By reducing energy bills by 35 to 50 percent, we can effectively save the owner the original cost of the building over its life,” said Linn.
It is estimated that buildings use 40 percent of the energy in the United States. The primary goal of Greensleeves is to reduce the U.S. carbon footprint by delivering cost effective, high performance buildings.
