MedPro Rx, Inc. Sponsored Virginia Hemophilia Foundation Annual Meeting
Raleigh, NC, June 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Nancy McFarlane, president of MedPro Rx, Inc. (www.medprorx.com), a provider of specialty pharmacy services to clients with chronic illnesses who need clotting factor, IVIg and other medication, has announced that the pharmacy sponsored the Virginia Hemophilia Foundation annual meeting, held May 14-15 at Camp Holiday Trails in Charlottesville, Va.
Approximately one in every 5,000 males nationwide is born with hemophilia, affecting all racial and socioeconomic groups equally. People with hemophilia experience bleeding following an injury and may have frequent spontaneous bleeding episodes, often into the joints and muscles. More traumatic injuries may result in serious problems and potential disability. The three most common types of hemophilia are Hemophilia A or Factor VIII Deficiency, Hemophilia B or Factor IX Deficiency, and von Willebrand Disease (vWD). vWD is caused by a deficiency or defect of a clotting protein, and it affects approximately 1-2 percent of the United States population. Unlike hemophilia, vWD occurs equally among males and females and is more likely to cause nosebleeds and bleeding under the skin than into the joints.
Quotes:
“The Virginia Hemophilia Foundation annual meeting was a great opportunity to meet the experts, network with other families, and learn about the latest products available,” said McFarlane. ”We are honored to sponsor an event that benefits the hemophilia community.”
Details:
- Dr. Diane Dimon, founder and director of Matters of the Mind and author of a meditation CD, was a special guest speaker.
