Jawbreaker Productions and Xtreme Fight Promotions Present First Ever “Fight For Life: Battling Cancer One Fight at a Time”
Jawbreaker Productions and Xtreme Fight Promotions are sponsoring "Fight For Life," a fight event and battle of the bands, in order to raise money for the family of cancer patient, Wilmington local Brian Cardeiro. The event was coordinated in association with Chico Santiago's organization In the Cage 4 Cancer. It will be held July 10th in Wilmington.
Wilmington, NC, June 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Jawbreaker Productions and Xtreme Fight Promotions are sponsoring a “Fight For Life” charity event on Saturday, July 10. The event will bring together world champion fighters and local bands to support cancer patient Brian Cardeiro in his battle against cancer. The event will feature a special appearance from renowned Mixed Martial Artist Chico Santiago. A portion of the proceeds from this all-day event will be given to Cardeiro and his family.
Cardeiro, a father of four and a highly revered local high school coach, is currently facing a diagnosis of stage four cancer. While his diagnosis is terminal, he has kept up a positive attitude and continued to be a role model for community activism in Wilmington. Jawbreaker and Xtreme have created this annual event to help Cardeiro’s children each year with the financial burdens they will encounter.
“I am truly blessed by the support shown by this community,” said Cardeiro. “Battling cancer has been no easy feat, and I am so grateful for the endless strength and encouragement that has been provided to my family.”
Fights will take place at the Schwartz Center on the campus of Cape Fear Community College. General admission tickets are $25 and VIP tickets are $50. Each ticket includes all-day access to fights and a Battle of the Bands that will take place from noon until 5 p.m. For every ticket purchased, $10 will be donated to the Cardeiro family.
This event was coordinated with the help of Chico Santiago’s In the Cage 4 Cancer organization. Santiago created the organization after his 6-year-old son lost a battle with childhood cancer, rallying fellow cage fighters to make a commitment to increase awareness of the disease. The mission, to inspire children and families battling cancer to keep on fighting and never give up, is realized through hospital visits and donations.
In the Cage 4 Cancer has already raised enough money to support the financial needs of 11 families in eastern North Carolina. The organization hopes that with Fight For Life it can gain the strength of more members and sponsors to continue battling cancer one fight at a time.
