Buro Happold Brings New Partner on Board, Expands Sustainability Expertise
Los Angeles, CA, June 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- International engineering firm Buro Happold has welcomed a new partner, Lisa Fay Matthiessen, AIA, LEED AP, to its Los Angeles office. Matthiessen is an architect who has 23 years of project experience in sustainable design and policy for large private and public clients. One of the original LEED faculty, she brings an environmental and sustainability skill set to Buro Happold for projects ranging in size from buildings to cities.
Craig Schwitter, PE, Managing Director, Buro Happold North America, said, "Lisa will provide senior leadership for our building and master planning projects. She brings valuable knowledge to Buro Happold in terms of the cost and commercial aspects of sustainability. She will also help to leverage our engineering expertise to our growing client base of developers and other end-user clients that are looking for new and creative answers to the difficult questions of energy use in today’s built environment."
Matthiessen co-authored the Cost of Green report; this seminal analysis of the costs associated with sustainable design has become a fundamental reference for the industry. She currently serves on the General Services Administration’s National Registry of Peer Professionals, as vice chair of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC)’s LEED Market Advisory Committee, and as technical advisor to the Clinton Climate Initiative.
In addition to teaching LEED courses, Matthiessen lectures at the University of Southern California and the University of California at Los Angeles. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Stanford University and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
