Contest Winners Use Innovative Techniques
Spokane, WA, June 25, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Rings & Things' 2010 "Your Designs Rock" Contest is over, and judges were impressed with innovative ways winners used R&T jewelry components. With a broad showing of talent from around the world, Rings & Things is proud to announce that this year's Grand Prize goes to Sarah Thompson of Spokane, WA, the company's hometown. Photographs don't do justice to the detailed wirework in Sarah's fine silver necklace, which also won First Place in the Mostly Metal category.
Sarah says of her design, that she tried for years to wire wrap but "could not get a feel for the wire. I had the concept down, but nothing more. Then, in August of 2009, I picked up a wire project I had fiddled with a year before and things just clicked. ...Instead of just wire wrapping, I began to weave. I was finally able to transpose the images I was seeing in my mind into reality."
Remaining First Place winners are Donna Blomberg (Glass & Crystal), Joy Masters (Gemstones & Pearls), Michela Verani (Metal Clay) and Laurie Leonard (Found Objects & Miscellaneous). In addition, eleven artists won Honorable Mentions. See all winning designs, plus non-winners our editor considers noteworthy, at: http://www.rings-things.com/gallery/
