Atlantic City Lenape Trail Classic Salutes Troops Overseas Through American Forces Network

Marlton, NJ, December 08, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Arden Branch, organizer of The 2006 Atlantic City Lenape Trail Classic, is pleased to announce that its first annual men’s basketball game featuring Temple University and the University of Cincinnati, will not only be viewed in over 29+ million households in the U.S., but will also be seen by U.S. service men and women around the world in 177 countries, and aboard U.S. navy ships at sea, through the American Forces Network (AFN). The game is scheduled for Saturday, December 9 at Atlantic City’s historic Boardwalk Hall. Tip-off is 4:00 p.m.

“We’re honored to use this event to support an organization like the USO which supports our troops,” said Dale Irby, President of Arden Branch Sports Group. “To know that this game will be viewed by the men and women who are making tremendous sacrifices around the world for our freedoms brings extra excitement to what we are doing. We’d like to take the opportunity to thank our partners at the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority, the American Forces Network and the USO, for allowing us to thank our troops in this manner, and offer a little bit of home as they spend the holidays away from their families.”

"The American Forces Network is proud to be able to provide the Atlantic City Lenape Trail Classic between Temple University and the University of Cincinnati to our audience of 800,000 men and women of the United States Armed Forces stationed overseas in 177 countries and U.S. territories, and aboard U.S. Navy ships at sea," said Heath Irbeck, Head of Sports and Sports Entertainment Programming and Acquisitions at AFN.

According to Jeffrey Vasser, executive director of the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority, Atlantic City has a colorful history of support for the Armed Forces. "Boardwalk Hall, where the game will be played, served as a military training center during World War II. In fact, during World War II many of Atlantic City's hotels were pressed into service as housing for troops or as hospitals and other facilities for the military. It's a connection we're proud of, and we're happy for the opportunity to continue to support our Armed Forces."

Tickets to the game are still available and can be purchased by visiting the Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, at ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-736-1420.
