Actress Caryn Ward from TV’s ‘The Game’ Returns to Her Roots in Domestic Violence Role

Los Angeles, CA, July 01, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Caryn Ward, best known as the feisty Sunbeam Erica Harrison on three seasons of “The Game,” reprises her role in Donald Welch’s megahit stage play “The Bachelorette Party.” Ward, an original cast member of the play which first premiered in 2006 (the same year powerhouse Will Smith optioned the property), portrays a women suffering from a dark secret: domestic violence. The one-night only performance will be held at the Wilshire Ebell Theater on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 8pm and features and all-star cast including Essence Atkins (“Are We There Yet?”) and Dawn Lewis (of “A Different World “fame).

‘The Bachelorette Party” can be described as a celebration of friendship and the consequences of what happens when boundaries are crossed and warnings are ignored. Amidst the laughter and camaraderie, Caryn’s versatility as an actress shines through. “Its an intense role,” Ward remarks. “I get to bring awareness to the darker, hidden aspects of our society. Far too many are still suffering in silence.”

No stranger to the large and small screen, the stage play reunites Caryn Ward with Essence Atkins. Ward and Atkins first portrayed best friends, along with Elise Neal, in the feature film,” N-Secure.” The psychological thriller will be released in theaters in the fall of 2010. Additionally, Caryn guest stars as Sexy Lexi on the new television series “ Love That Girl” from the creators of The Jamie Foxx Show. The TV ONE laugher is being executive produced by Martin Lawrence.

When asked about future projects, “I have one project in particular that I am starring in. It’s in the works, so I can’t really talk about it. I can say this; as of yet, we haven’t seen an African-American woman in this type of lead role in quite some time.” “I love doing television and film,” Ward continues, “but there is nothing like the power of theater. Theater is where I have my roots and where I will always return,“ says Ward. “There is no greater satisfaction than hearing sniffles in the audience because someone has been moved to their core.”
