20 Pound Shih Tzu Inspires Poetry of Biscuits With Archie, Published by Outskirts Press
Morton, MS, July 02, 2010 --(PR.com)-- C.H. Allen Clark today announced the release of Biscuits With Archie, The Poetry and Stories of C.H. Allen Clark, published by Outskirts Press. Drawing both from his experiences with the menagerie of animals populating his house and yard and from his own ancestors’ Civil War experiences, Clark has crafted a volume of poetry and short stories pleasing in its wit and down home observations.
Archie, Clark’s twenty pound Shih Tzu, is but one of the thirteen dogs, nine horses, twenty cats and the various other wildlife that call Clark’s property “home.” Archie is known as the “Big Ragu” of the homestead, but answers as well to “Lefty of the Leftovers,” “Fatty of All Known Feats” and, in his more inglorious moments, “Cat Pervert Extraordinaire.”
Small wonder he’s been so inspirational to poet Clark.
Biscuits with Archie, says the author, shows readers that all these dogs, all these horses, all these cats have somehow become a kind of destiny, perhaps just as his tribute to his ancestors of the Civil War through his short stories had finally become their destiny one hundred and fifty years later.
“One day,” Clark writes, “I will saddle up the old bay mare with the walker on top and then ride off into the sunset. Where will I ride? I know not where. Perhaps, I will ride to my destiny.”
Biscuits With Archie is available on-line in paperback through Amazon and Barnes and Noble and at www.outskirtspress.com/buybooks for a maximum trade discount in quantities of ten or more.
