DC Comics and Capstone Collaborate on New Books Starring Pets of Our Favorite Super Heroes

Minneapolis, MN, July 08, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Capstone imprint Picture Window Books, children’s publisher of illustrated fiction and nonfiction, has signed with DC Comics to create DC Super-Pets, a new series of leveled chapter books. The project will last through fall 2012 and ultimately produce 24 new titles for young readers.

Debuting in January 2011 with six titles, DC Super-Pets pairs new stories by Picture Window Books authors with original art by DC Comics illustrator and Eisner Award winner Art Baltazar. The full-color chapter books introduce readers to the super-strong, super-fast, and super-smart pets of the World’s Greatest Super Heroes, who also work night and day to fight crime and evil in the DC Universe. The series will be available in the trade and school library markets.

“It’s been exciting to collaborate with DC Comics from the beginning of this project, developing the new characters and story lines together. Who knew that our favorite Super Heroes were such pet lovers? From pets with super speed to X-ray vision, DC Super-Pets is a fun series that is definitely going to amuse and entertain young readers,” said Lori Benton, General Manager/Publisher of Capstone Fiction.

This is the second project Capstone and DC Comics have collaborated on in recent history. The publishers launched a successful partnership in 2008 under Capstone’s Stone Arch Books imprint to publish DC Super Heroes, an original book series based around DC Comics’ iconic characters Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, and coming in Spring 2011 Green Lantern and the Flash.
