Royal Oaks Building Group Earns ENERGY STAR® Builder Partner Designation
Raleigh, NC, July 09, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Rich Van Tassel, president of Royal Oaks Building Group, LLC (www.royaloaksbg.com), has announced that the company is now an ENERGY STAR® Builder Partner. All new homes built in the company’s 12 neighborhoods will be ENERGY STAR® certified, meaning they are verified as at least 15 percent more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code. Homes must be tested by a third-party Home Energy Rater, who participates in planning and design and conducts onsite inspections and testing to verify the performance of the energy efficient features in the home. Homeowner benefits of ENERGY STAR® homes include lower ownership costs due to a discount from utility companies and increased energy savings, better performance as a direct result of highly durable, energy-efficient systems, increased return on investment, added confidence when purchasing an EPA verified home and environmental protection.
Quotes:
“We are very pleased to offer Royal Oaks homeowners all the benefits that come along with being an ENERGY STAR® Builder Partner,” said Van Tassel. “Building responsibly and sustainably is important to us as a company, which translates to improved air quality and comfort, better performance, lower ownership costs and energy savings for our homeowners.”
Details:
- Energy efficient features are divided into five categories: tight construction and ducts, effective insulation systems, efficient heating and cooling equipment, high performance windows, and efficient products, which include light fixtures, appliances, and ventilation fans.
- A home energy rating involves an analysis of a home’s construction plans, which are verified through onsite inspections. Based on the home’s plans, the Home Energy Rater uses an energy efficiency software package to perform an energy analysis of the home’s design. Once construction is complete, a blower door test and a duct blaster test are performed, among other inspections, to insure the home exceeds ENERGY STAR® standards.
