Words of the Founders, a new book by Paul Rosenberg, author of the counter-culture classic A Lodging of Wayfaring Men, is released for sale today by Ascoli Publishing and Vera Verba Publishing. www.AscoliBooks.com.
Rosenberg has assembled 570 timely and poignant quotes from America’s Founding Fathers, the Framers of the Constitution. George Washington, Samuel Adams, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, James Madison, George Mason, Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, and others.
The book has little “editorializing,” believing that it’s time for Americans to directly take to heart the words of our Founders -- even read how the Founders’ own ideas changed over the years. There are some amazing quotes and thoughts that were left out of our “civics” classes – that show how vehement the Founders were that our only chance of survival as a nation was a weak federalism and that all efforts of a strong government should be resisted at all costs.
The Author suggests: "Perhaps it is not too aggressive a suggestion that these words be shared at the family dinner table. You can read how our Founders struggled with accepting the cloak of office, how little they wanted it. How they quietly returned to their lives after their term of service. How they accepted what they perceived as a duty, and they accepted it reluctantly and with grave misgivings. Without the editor drawing conclusions, each reader can form his or her thoughts on why “things” have gotten so “out of control.” Clearly our Founders believed that “public servants,” the government, was beholden at all times to “the people” – and that now it would seem that we are beholden to a class of persons who used to be our servants."
The Author: "Many feel that America has lost its way; that, perhaps with the best of intentions, we have “tinkered” with one of the most perfect governing documents ever written, the Constitution, which has become the inspiration for almost all republics and democracies around the world."
The Publisher: "The book, to its credit, offers no canned conclusions; no helpful hints of what to do next. It simply arms the reader with the Words of the Founders and believes that their resounding ring of truth will inspire “right action” that is the spirit of America."
