John R. Segerstrom, Chairman of the Board ALCO & Head of PQMResearch to Speak at GKC’s Teleconference on "New Regulatory Changes in the FDIC Deposit-Insurance Fund"

New York, NY, December 12, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The Global Knowledge Congress, the leading producer of regulatory focused teleconferences, has announced today that John R. Segerstorm, a nationally distinguished personality in the banking and financial world, Chairman of the Board ALCO, and Head Of PQMReserach will speak at the Global Knowledge Congress’ upcoming teleconference on “New Regulatory Changes in the FDIC Deposit-Insurance Fund & Its Impact on Financial Institutions," tentatively scheduled on January 4, 2007 at 11:00 AM EST.

As a widely anticipated consequence of legislation passed in Congress, the FDIC’s board recently voted to approve an increase of annual premiums. The new premiums, which range from .005% to .007% of a bank’s insured deposits, are higher then the anticipated .01% to .03% increase. Furthermore, the premiums will differ among banks depending on a number of factors including:

* Supervisory rating
* Financial ratios
* Debt ratios (larger banks)

To help untangle the confusion surrounding this legislation, The Global Knowledge Congress has assembled a panel to help make sense of it and how it will affect your bank. The panel will present their findings including a best practices segment at a two-hour teleconference scheduled for January 2007.

About John R. Segerstrom

John Segerstrom’s career has been dedicated to financial institution administration and finance. He has served as a senior executive, as a regulator, as National Asset/Liability Consulting Manager for a large CPA firm, and currently is head of PQMResearch, a financial institution consulting practice.  His work in financial analysis and management has been widely published, and his cutting edge use of artificial intelligence techniques in
financial modeling received the national AAAI Innovation Award.

At PQMResearch, John focuses on Strategic Finance. He has integrated his research findings to address the problem of managing an institution’s risk profile.  Aligning tactical decisions – management’s risk-taking in pursuit of profit - with the institution’s strategic objective has been shown to consistently produce optimal results: top profitability, with stability and sustainability.

Systematically measuring and reporting tactical alignment (the institution’s “Risk Profile”) to the governing body also honors a critical “bright line” separating effective board governance from the proper prerogatives of management. This demarcation lays the foundation for a supportive board-management partnership, and for meeting institutional governance criteria now mandated by law and regulation.

John currently chairs the Board ALCO of a $2+ billion bank and heads a private scholarship foundation benefiting Oregon high school graduates. He recently retired from the Board of a major Oregon health insurance company after thirty years as Director, member of the Executive Committee and Audit Committee Chair.

John holds B.A. (Math) and B.S. (Operations Research – applied statistics) degrees from San Jose University, and earned an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
