NHS Launches Strength in Numbers Community Outreach Initiative

National Hotel Services (NHS) is proud to announce their first annual Strength in Numbers community outreach initiative. The Strength in Numbers campaign provides an opportunity for hospitality industry professionals and their families and friends to give back to underserved communities and underprivileged families providing true hospitality to those in need.

Chicago, IL, July 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- NHS, in partnership with the Carole Robertson Center for Learning (CRCL) and Sarah’s Circle Women’s Shelter, has launched its first annual Strength in Numbers community outreach initiative. The Strength in Numbers campaign provides Hospitality Industry professionals and their current and prospective clients an opportunity to give back to underserved communities and underprivileged families.

On Thursday, July 15 NHS and The Drake Hotel will be hosting its first Strength in Numbers volunteer day at the CRCL’s 19th Street location. Volunteers from NHS, The Drake Hotel, Omni Hotels & Resorts, MGM/Mirage, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority will all be present to spend a day interacting with, mentoring, and performing facility upkeep for the center’s students ranging from infants to 18 year olds.

In addition to the on-site activities NHS will be encouraging volunteers to gather toiletries typically provided at hotels (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, lotions, etc.) to facilitate a toiletry donation for Sarah’s Circle, a shelter providing outreach services to Chicago’s female homeless population.

The Carole Robertson Center for Learning (CRCL) is a not-for-profit child, youth, and family development center on the near Westside of Chicago. CRCL is an accredited National Association for the Education of Young Children facility dedicated to nurturing, supporting, and strengthening family life through quality child, youth, and family development programs. The Center serves Metropolitan Chicago families and facilitates community advocacy on child and family issues.

Sarah’s Circle is a Chicago based refuge for women who are homeless or in need of a safe space. Sarah’s Circle has been providing services for women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness for 30 years. They have grown from a small organization providing daytime support services to local area women, to an agency that provides comprehensive services and permanent supportive housing. Today, Sarah’s Circle serves approximately 700 women annually, from all areas of Chicago.

The Strength in Numbers initiative will begin with two community outreach activities planned for the first year, ultimately providing volunteer opportunities every three months. "Our School Age Coordinator has been spreading the word to the children and their families about the program taking place on the 15th. We are all really looking forward to it” says Jane Baker resource Development Specialist for the Carole Robertson Center.
