Characters, Capers and Culture Fill History of The Pleyto Hills, Published by Outskirts Press

Templeton, CA, July 11, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Outskirts Press, Inc. has published The Pleyto Hills by Joseph Botts. The author's most recent book to date is a 6 x 9 paperback in the modern history category and is available worldwide on book retailer websites such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The Pleyto Hills is also available in a 6 x 9 hardback edition with jacket. The webpage at www.outskirtspress.com/pleytohills was launched simultaneously with the book's publication.

Spanning over one hundred and fifty years in California, Botts’ history is all based on fact and is told in a way that is interesting and entertaining.

The Pleyto Hills are located in the California Coastal Range lying east of the famous Hearst Castle. The little town of Pleyto was a stage stop between San Miguel and Jolon in the early days of California when the author’s paternal grandfather came through from Indiana in 1876, just having missed being with General Custer at Little Big Horn.

The little town of Pleyto is now flooded by the San Antonio Lake, and the original land grant, which was known as “El Pleito,” has been cut up and made into smaller parcels.

This book is not only chock full of interesting history, but also includes a number of true and fascinating short stories about the hardy people of the area. While covering serious history, the author also relates a series of entertaining and amusing stories about Pleyto’s local characters.

186 pages in length, The Pleyto Hills is being aggressively promoted to appropriate markets with a focus on the modern history category. With U.S. wholesale distribution through Ingram and Baker & Taylor, and pervasive online availability through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and elsewhere, The Pleyto Hills meets consumer demand through both retail and library markets with a suggested retail price of $14.95 and $23.95 for the paperback and hardback with jacket editions, respectively.

Additionally, The Pleyto Hills can be ordered by retailers or wholesalers for the maximum trade discount price set by the author in quantities of ten or more from the Outskirts Press wholesale online bookstore at www.outskirtspress.com/buybooks.
