Means announced that this year’s Tournament has also been expanded to include a $100,000 Shootout event, a $10,000 Hole-In-One opportunity, and a $2,500 Putting Contest for some lucky golfers to win. Means stated that there are sponsorships opportunities still available, but interested parties need to act quickly as the event is close to being sold out. Means requested that all interested parties contact him directly at the phone number listed below.
Means stated that the proceeds from this year’s tournament will help fund the Foundation’s many initiatives. The Foundation’s mission is to impact the lives of young people by inspiring them to pursue excellence. Means explained that one of the best ways for the Foundation to carry out its’ mission is through recreational and athletic activities. The Foundation sponsored the Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Pitch, Hit and Run local competition last spring.
Means stated that one of the missions of the Foundation is to offer programs that specifically benefit kids but do not directly conflict with other organizations. The Foundation is currently completing the due diligence on an incentive reading program. Reading is one the most basic skill sets needed for children to compete in the Information Age.
Means stated that there is no program available that encourages kids to not only enjoy reading but also incentivizes them to read. The scope of the program the Foundation is designing will take a large portion of its resources.
