The Rock and Roll Academy® Aspen Opens This August with Two Weeks of Summer Rock Camp
Aspen, CO, July 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Rock and Roll Academy® is coming to Aspen. After seven successful years in Telluride, the RRA Aspen branch opens by offering two one-week sessions of Summer Rock Camp for students ages 8 through 18. The camps will take place from August 2nd through 6th and August 9th through 13th and will be held at the Dance Progressions space at building 403 at the Aspen Airport Business Center.
Rock and Roll Academy Summer Rock Camp is a five-day summer day camp that allows children an opportunity to explore all of the musical, social and personal aspects of being in a rock band. Following the RRA Whole Child Teaching Method™, Academy students form a band, develop friendships, explore the instruments, choose their songs, learn to work together, and have a lot of fun. RRA provides the instruments and students can focus on one instrument or try them all out. Instruction is given in the context of the band, balancing the musical and social/emotional development of each child. A concert is given on the Friday of the week.
Additionally, registration is now open for the RRA Aspen 2010 fall semester After School Program. Band classes begin September 13. The RRA After School Program runs in four-month semesters, September to December and January to May, with a semester-ending rock concert. Students meet with their band once a week for ninety-minutes. Bands are grouped by age, experience level and friendships. Bands choose their own songs, their band name, choose what instruments to play and forge a group identity greater than any one of the individuals. The RRA Method works on three levels, musical, social, and personal, which are explored in the context of the band. All instruction is offered in the context of the band, balancing the musical and social/emotional development of each child.
The Rock and Roll Academy® in Aspen, Colorado is a franchise of an existing music school in Telluride, Colorado. The Rock and Roll Academy® was founded in 2003 by Mark Galbo and has served over 1,500 students in Telluride during seven years of programming. The RRA was awarded a National Association of Independent Schools “Best of Show” Award at the NAIS Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado in 2007, has been featured on CBS4, and in 5280 magazine in the Fall 2008 “Denver’s Top Schools” edition.
The Rock and Roll Academy® promotes team building, self-expression, personal transformation and social responsibility. The RRA recognizes the role of fantasy and play in learning and fosters a culture of trust and authenticity. RRA students are confident, self-directed, and supportive of their band mates. RRA students take initiative, make positive choices, and grow into their potential as lifelong musicians and creative individuals.
