Baltimore, MD, June 30, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Taipan Publishing Group, a leading financial research publishing service, announced today that five recent entry-level positions within Agora Inc. divisions have been filled by employees who began their careers as interns for Taipan.
The company, which prides itself on promoting within, encourages the hiring of previous interns for full-time positions. Some employees – even executives and publishers – were hired as a direct result of their performance during their internship.
Most recently hired as an Editorial Assistant is Marie Haughey, who served as a spring 2010 Editorial intern with Taipan Publishing Group. Marie is a recent graduate of Loyola University with a degree in English.
Katie Wagner, Marketing Coordinator for Agora Financial, completed an E-Commerce internship with Taipan Publishing Group during the winter of 2009–2010 and had a job waiting for her after she graduated from Stevenson University that spring. Katie received a degree in Business Communications and felt that internships made her a more valuable hire. She has racked up internships with Taipan Publishing Group, Edie Brown and Associates Public Relations Marketing Firm, and at Baltimore magazine as a Marketing intern.
Aimee de Pontbriand, E-Marketer for The Sovereign Society, was also an E-Commerce intern at Taipan Publishing Group during the winter of 2009–2010. By February, she had secured a full-time position. Aimee says her internship was “the best thing to happen at that time in my life. I had graduated in the spring of '08, right smack dab in the middle of the worst economic decline of our time, so jobs were scarce. I am really lucky to have found the internship with Taipan because it led to this awesome job with an awesome company.”
Erin Beale, Group Publisher at Taipan Publishing Group, was also hired as a full-time employee immediately following her internship at Agora Financial during the summer of 2003. Erin had graduated from Towson University with a double major in English and History and decided after her Marketing internship that she was more interested in editing than marketing. Her entry-level position as an Editorial Assistant with Taipan Publishing Group lead to a promotion to Editor and then a move to the Marketing field as Product Manager.
After seven years at Taipan Publishing Group, Erin says she loves working for the Agora family because “You can easily forge your own path here. If you have ideas and take initiative and are creative, you can easily rise through the company by starting as an intern.”
According to Jennessa Fiorino of the Human Resources Department, three past Taipan Publishing Group interns have found full-time positions at Agora, Inc. since January. Of Agora’s 14 spring 2010 interns (eight of those belonging to Taipan Publishing Group), five have been hired as full-time employees.
“I am always happy and willing to help interns secure full-time positions, and those who are persistent and communicate their job interests to the rest of HR Team and myself are those who typically secure full-time employment. Hiring managers truly prefer to hire past interns as opposed to outside entry-level candidates as past interns already have a great understanding of our company and our culture.” – Jennessa Fiorino, Human Resources Associate
Taipan Publishing Group offers internships in fields such as E-Commerce, E-Marketing, Editorial, Public Relations, and Graphic Design. Interns are able to apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-life work experience, as well as receive on-the-job training with content management systems, marketing processes, and design applications. It is also a great way to become acquainted with Agora, Inc., which employs around 350 people in the Baltimore area and has offices in seven countries outside of the United States.
Taipan Publishing Group is a financial research publisher that offers ten investment market research services and advisories covering emerging markets, options trading, blue chips, small caps, commodities and more.
