SHE Can do It! and the Local Police Department Offer Free Self Defense Workshop for Young Girls
Workshop focuses on building strong and confident young women with the help of martial arts and strengthening techniques.
El Segundo, CA, July 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- SHE Can Do It! will kick off its first workshop of self-defense techniques for young women on Saturday, July 31st at 10:00am at the El Segundo Public Library in El Segundo, Calif. During this free two-hour workshop young girls ages 9-12 will be shown how to build confidence and feel in charge of a situation through proper self-defense techniques and strengthening exercises from Martial Arts expert Sonny Michaels and Personal Trainer Eric Redd.
Michaels, who is a full-time, fully certified, professional martial arts instructor with 30 years experience, teaches any age at any ability level ranging from absolute beginners to pro fighters. No matter what the ability level may be, Michaels pays very close attention to how a student is coming along. He is a strong believer in the understanding that “It all lies in the basics” and that self-defense exercises help his young students to become more confident women who are better aware of their surroundings.
Eric Redd is the co-owner of Evolution 180, a 3,300sqf private training studio near Playa Vista and Marina del Rey, CA. Eric is an experienced trainer/movement coach with nearly ten years of experience training in the area. He is certified trough NCCPT, and has several certifications through Z Health. A former collegiate 800 meter runner, Eric focuses on each client as an individual. He has trained many clients from the office worker, teacher, housewife, to professional athletes. He incorporates the following attributes to his training: strength, skill, nutrition, suppleness, stamina, structure, spirit, style and speed.
The SHE Can Do It! workshop will end with streetwise advice from a representative of the local Police Department. The workshop is free but space is limited. The first 20 girls who sign up will receive a free gift bag. The El Segundo Library is located at 111 W. Mariposa Avenue, El Segundo, CA, 90245.
