1st Annual Glendale Silver Screen Film and Video Festival - Call for Entries

Glendale, AZ, December 13, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Filmmakers start your cameras!: The Glendale Daily Planet, CouryGraph Productions, Achieve Radio and an ever growing list of Downtown and Catlin Court Merchants Presents: Call for Entries -1st Annual Glendale Silver Screen Film and Video Festival, with an added still photo category!

With over $500 in cash prizes and another large group of merchandise and treats, this festival is one of the most rewarding experiences for the filmmaker.

In addition there is an luxury stay at the Glendale Gaslight Inn Bed and Breakfast which includes entrance to their premier weekend Jazz event! If that was ot enough to entice you to start the film ( or video) rolling there are a wonderful group of prizes being added to the booty from downtown Glendale and Catlin Court merchants.

This event was initially announced prior to thanksgiving to get filmmakers active when the 1.4 Million Twinkling Lights were switched on the night of November 24th.

Ed Sharpe, festival director and Glendale Filmmaker, said the event is designed to showcase local talent, wonderful city events and promote filmmaking in the city of Glendale.

"I don't think the filmmakers have enough outlets to show their work," Sharpe said. "We have a great assortment of production and acting talent on the Westside just looking to burst forth."

Shoot and enter anytime until the conclusion Jan. 6. with the awesome Glitter & Glow Block Party. This year not only will there be the lights and hot air balloons but there will be bands, sporting themes and more!

Judges include EMMY and TELLY recipients.

Your film, video or still photo can be originated in any format you care to use.

Judging copy must be uploaded to the Internet. (Instructions TBA)

Final Screening copies should be a DVD or VHS tape. (Screening Party Date TBA)

All forms and final rules TBA by end of December.

-30 second News Spot about this event 

-30 second Commercial about this event

-Comedy amongst the glitter  set at this event - 3 to 20 minutes 

-Public Service - A 3 to 20 minute Documentary about Fire and Police personnel at this event. 

-General Documentary Movie Related to the event 3 - 20 minutes.

Sharpe said he is encouraging high school students to submit their work.

"It is amazing! In the schools now, they're teaching them how to edit and produce movies," he said. "They are the moviemakers of tomorrow. It is important for them to showcase their work publicly."

Screening is to be in February with the formal date and location to be announced in January.

Sharpe emphasized, "We are getting a panel together for discussion after the screening... dialog is a fantastic method of learning where you are going with your creation and how others perceive it and react to it."
