Career Mark Awarded
Derby College at Ilkeston and Heanor has become the first College in the county to be awarded with the coveted Career Mark accreditation by the East Midlands Connexions Consortium for the quality of their careers education and guidance.
Derby, United Kingdom, July 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Derby College at Ilkeston and Heanor has become the first College in the county to be awarded with the coveted Career Mark accreditation by the East Midlands Connexions Consortium for the quality of their careers education and guidance.
The College careers team’s work, led by Jane Boswell, was highlighted by the award assessors as of a high standard and they were particularly impressed by the feedback of students on both sites who were very appreciative of the help they receive.
Career Mark measures good practice in a number of areas – management, curriculum, information, guidance and outcomes in helping young people develop life long career management skills.
Maureen Finch, Head of Derby College at Ilkeston and Heanor said: “The award of Career Mark is well justified as the student services team has helped thousands of students over the years to fulfil their goals – whether that is to go onto university or get on the next rung of their career ladder.
“Students who apply to us in the future can be confident that they will continue to get an excellent standard of support.”
Jane Boswell added: “We are delighted that the team’s work has been recognised in this way and we look forward to working with colleagues throughout the College to share good practice.”
Simon Caines, Head of IAG and Development at Connexions Derbyshire concluded: “Advice and guidance for students is recognised as one of the major priorities for education and this is not an easy award to gain.
“One of the biggest influencers on the assessors was the feedback from students who fed back that they were very impressed and grateful for the support that they have received at College.”
