Women’s eNews’ Philadelphia Leadership Awards Celebrate Sisterly Love in PA
New York, NY, July 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Today Women’s eNews, an Internet-based daily news service, announces the 14 women and one man named a Women’s eNews Philadelphia Leader 2010, proving that brotherly love is not the only thing the city has to boast about.
Women’s eNews has handpicked these leaders who work to improve police investigations of violence crimes; support pro-choice and progressive women candidates; educate women and girls and to fight for equal health access for lesbian and transgender women.
A gala dinner will be held to celebrate on Wednesday, October 20 the 15 leaders’ achievements at Bryn Mawr, one of the five remaining all-women Northeast colleges. Full biographies will be released in August, 2010.
The awards, launched in 2009, extend Women’s eNews’ tradition of honoring those who are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of women and girls.

Patricia Giorgio-Upgrading Philadelphia police response to domestic violence;
Nancy G. Klavans –Creating cultural bridge among women;
Marjorie Margolies – Training of women’s to seek and gain political power;
Dr. Jane Dammen McAuliffe –educating the next generation of innovators;
Vincent A. Panvini – Encouraging union support for progressive women candidates;
Nurit Levi Shein –Providing health care to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans;
Rev. Michelle Anne Simmons – Conducting ex-prisoners to a new life;
Lorraine S. Webb—Developing diverse organizations;
Deborah Wei – Advocating for immigrant women’s safety;
Melissa Weiler Gerber—Raising funds to support women’s organizations;
M. Patricia West –Organizing to reduce the acceptance of violence against women.
