AirWalk Communications Appoints Roger A. Dorf Executive Chairman of the Board
AirWalk Communications names Roger Dorf as its Executive Chairman of the Board, to help steer the company's growth.
Dallas, TX, July 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- AirWalk Communications, an innovator in IP-based CDMA cellular radio network equipment, announced today that Roger Dorf, former Cisco Systems vice president and longtime telecommunications industry executive, has been appointed Executive Chairman of the Board. Mr. Dorf’s presence on the board will be instrumental as AirWalk enters a high-growth stage focused on implementing more efficient data and voice networks for macrocell and picocell solutions.
With more than 40 years of executive and engineering leadership experience, Mr. Dorf most recently served as vice president and general manager of the broadband wireless business unit at Cisco Systems. Prior to Cisco’s acquisition of Navini Networks in 2007, he had been president and CEO of Navini. In his career, Mr. Dorf also held top leadership positions at Celite Systems, Nortel Networks, Synch Research, AT&T Network Systems, AT&T Paradyne, Cullinet Software, and IBM.
“We are very pleased to welcome Roger. His proven track record of driving corporate growth and increasing value at emerging companies will be a tremendous asset as AirWalk strives to reach our full potential,” said Serge Pequeux, president and CEO of AirWalk Communications. “He is the ideal combination of seasoned technology executive and energetic leader and will help accelerate our growth and shape our future.”
“AirWalk has an impressive collection of technical expertise, talent and unwavering enthusiasm which is instrumental for developing momentum within the market,” Mr. Dorf said. “As Executive Chairman of the Board, I look forward to tapping into my industry knowledge and creating more opportunities for AirWalk’s shareholders, customers, partners and employees.”
Mr. Pequeux said that AirWalk is adding resources to increase its presence in the market and will continue to focus on key industry alliances. The company, he pointed out, is well prepared to support service providers around the world to adopt advanced macrocell and picocell products. Macrocells are deployed in large-scale cellular networks, while picocells are used to improve wireless communications in campus, office and public area environments.
AirWalk, a leader in femtocell technology, is poised for rapid growth in the wireless consumer market. As mobile operators begin launching wide-ranging femtocell service AirWalk’s family of femtocells will extend high-quality mobile coverage to businesses and homes.
Mr. Dorf’s board experience includes positions with Amplifynet, Apta Software, and Gearworks. He has also served as outside director of CTI Argentina and as chairman of the U.S. Section of the Brazil/U.S. Business Council. In addition, he is currently on the board of the National Chamber Foundation of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where he serves on the executive and audit committee. He is President of the Board of Trustees at Missouri S&T and is also a member of the Dean’s Advisory council for Boston University’s College of Engineering.
