Sins Invalid Featured at the National Youth Leadership Network Conference: Reap What You Sow

A new groundbreaking performance project Sins Invalid: The Unashamed Claim to Beauty in the Face of Disability will be featured at the NYLN Conference: Reap What You Sow. Sins Invalid is the only event of its kind in the United States inspiring audiences and redefining the conversation about sexuality and disability.

Raleigh, NC, July 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Sins Invalid is a project based out of San Francisco, California led by disabled artists of color. Their performance focuses on disability, beauty, and sexuality. Their goals include developing and presenting strong artistic work that explores sexuality and the non-normative body, integrating the full and multi-dimensional experiences of disabled artists who are also people of color and LGBTIQ, in order to represent all of our communities and challenge dominant misperceptions about people with disabilities.

Sins Invalid’s co-founder and the lead force behind Krip-Hop Nation, Leroy Moore will be performing at this event. In addition, Maria “Goddess on Wheels” is a spoken word poet from Houston, Texas. Antoine Hunter is an acclaimed international dancer and choreographer. Film and written work by artists Todd Herman, Aurora Levins Morales and Patty Berne will be featured as well.

A new groundbreaking performance project Sins Invalid: The Unashamed Claim to Beauty in the Face of Disability comes to Raleigh on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 8:00pm at the Hilton North Raleigh as a part of the NYLN Conference: Reap What You Sow- Harvesting Support Systems. This inclusive show will be wheelchair accessible, sign language interpreted and audio described. Tickets are $8-$10 at the door.

This performance is part of the National Youth Leadership Network (NYLN) event “Reap What You Sow: Harvesting Support Systems.” This conference looks at how to support and empower young people in finding networks to assist in them in making their dreams realities. NYLN is hosting this performance as a part of the conference, and is open to the public.

NYLN is a non-profit organization led by young leaders with disabilities. NYLN promotes youth leadership, education, and advocacy ensuring that youth with disabilities know how to set and reach their own goals.
