Austin Web Innovators Venture Beyond YouTube
Austin, TX, December 14, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Austin start-up TVKnob.com takes Internet broadcast to the next step, combining TV broadcast service, interactive web portal communities, original programming and industry validation by the Internet Broadcasters Association (IBA).
The “I-Movement” Team is led by web innovator Doug Watkins, along with business executive and Internet television pioneer, Richard May. Richard May has created the pilot for a next generation Internet Television Broadcast channel through the recent launch of TVKnob.com.
The TVKnob Video and Audio Players, designed by Watkins, allows broadcasters the ability to not only air music and videos 24-7 like YouTube, but to fine-tune its programming into online television and radio stations with multiple channels and quality controls.
“YouTube just woke the public up to the possibilities,” Watkins states. “Our concept offers broadcast technology solutions to reach vast new markets of broadcasting, pod-casting and personal entertainment. There are serious issues facing the future of independent arts and the way it all works. This technology puts in motion a television and radio station network that anyone with the talent and the equipment can take an idea and then turn it into a personalized yet global TV or Radio Channel. It puts the power where it should be — in the hands of the broadcaster rather than the distributor. We would like to see it become the catalyst that bridges the Internet to the TV in the home.”
Watkins and May are currently looking for the right combination of resources to advance their technological and artistic success worldwide. Their collective team offers a service of internet community based audio and video services where anyone can affordably be a part of their broadcasting network.
The team already leads the industry in creating original programming for their own television and radio stations, which receive millions of hits each year. In 2006, they realized in order to build their business; they needed to first build the industry. “There were thousands of Internet broadcasters out there and no organizing body to represent the interests of such a rapidly growing industry,” May explained. As such, they are pioneering the Internet Broadcasters Association (IBA) to organize and represent the industry before Congress and the media, as well as creating the charts and awards system to define and recognize quality programming within the industry.
“The Internet Broadcast industry is so new and profound that it is time for a trade association to give it the identity and credibility it needs to go forward in the 21st century,” remarks May who has nearly 20 years' experience in Congress, media relations and arts representation as a trade association executive, television producer and artist.
Watkins created the online radio station and community portal system TexasRadio1.com (http://www.texasradio1.com) that has already generated 2.8 million visits in the past year, and later hosted the popular Songwriters Series Internet television show. The Songwriters Series (http://www.songwritersseries.com) is one of the first originally produced Internet broadcast television series in the world. The series is produced by Austinites Hank Sinatra and Richard May and recently surpassed 600,000 visitors in just 6 months.
