The Vampire Craze Driving the Entertainment Industry Could be a Potential Gold Mine for Author of Urban Fiction
The Gangsta Prophecy, the controversial novel by urban fiction writer Charles Allen, could prove to be more than what the author bargained for. He started out writing about a thug embroiled in a battle of good versus evil, but now the larger-than-life demon trying to bring him to defeat, could potentially steal the show in an entertainment environment where creatures of the night rule.
West Orange, NJ, July 26, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Wolvzbeere the demon, evil mastermind behind the murders being plotted in The Gangsta Prophecy, has the potential to become more famous than author Charles Allen intended. With his ruthless, psychotic ways, he was cast as the main antagonist living quietly in the shadow of Switchblade, the rebellious hero. Somewhere along the way, however, the scenario changed. The powerful demon started spreading his wings, causing the author to question if it would be wise to allow him to grow. "This was not supposed to happen," says Allen. "Switchblade is my star. Yes, he's dangerous and rough around the edges, but he matures into a positive role model. There's not a positive bone in Wolvzbeere's body. He's a dark spirit from the underworld whose favorite pastime is suffocating souls in the night."
Although Allen believes allowing Wolvzbeere to join the pack of vampires, witches and she-devils vying for our attention is not exactly what society needs, he admits there may be some hidden benefits to letting him out the box. With the demon in the limelight, he could attract readers who might not otherwise get to know of his work. More readers, regardless of the reason they are drawn, means more people exposed to the true message he aims to get across.
Some may not agree with the steps Allen takes to impact lives, but he feels it's important to meet people where they are. "Books have to be culturally relevant to bring about change," he says. "That's why I cross the line and go into some dark, ugly places. Demons are real and understanding how they operate is critical to our survival. The Taoists have a saying, 'Know magic, shun magic,' which means we should study the ways of others not to imitate them, but to keep from being victimized by them. That's why I write about Wolvzbeere and don't have a problem with his potential fame. If the beast gets out of control, I'll simply drive my pen through his heart and send him back to the sea of nothingness."
