Impact Communication Skills - Save Money and Make an Impact
A new media relations and PR training company, based in Surrey, England, is claiming to be able to save local businesses hard cash on their marketing budgets.
Farnham, Surrey, United Kingdom, July 24, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Fleet Street journalist Steve Usher and public relations expert Andrew Barber, both from Farnham, have joined forces to create Impact Communication Skills.
They aim to be training local companies, organisations and individuals the skills to be able to run publicity and media campaigns in-house, enabling them to promote and publicise their services and products effectively while still keeping tight control over marketing and PR costs.
“All businesses are looking to save money right now and we believe we can show them how by training their staff - in whatever field - to do their own public relations,” says Barber, 47.
Usher provides the press angle on media relations and press releases and the expertise on how to make sure a business gets its message across to the public through all media platforms.
Courses will be run at Farnham Castle and other venues around Surrey and Hampshire. Internal courses can also be arranged if required.
“By staging our events locally we will attract businesses throughout Surrey and Hampshire who do not want to waste time and money sending their people - at great expense - into London for training,” says Usher, 50.
“At Impact Communication Skills we believe that companies already employ the best people to deal with their marketing and communications - their own staff. No-one knows what a business and its products or services stand for better than they do,” adds Barber.
Impact also brings in guest speakers from the national media including a former editor of OK! magazine and an assistant editor from the Daily Star. Others include marketing and publicity experts from internationally-known brands in the entertainment and manufacturing sectors.
Usher has worked on many national newspapers including the Daily and Sunday Express, the Daily Star, The Sun and has recently had work published in the Independent on Sunday. He is also an Associate Lecturer in journalism at Southampton Solent University and a Sessional Lecturer in journalism at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham.
Barber has 25 years' experience of public relations, marketing and sales in the commercial property and IT sectors. His clients have included IBM, Barclays Bank, SEGRO, Jones Lang LaSalle and Miller Construction. He has also undertaken international PR campaigns in Hungary and Denmark. He is a specialist in online PR and contributes a regular guest blog on this topic for Property Week magazine.
