Hollister Creative Picked to Produce a National Anti-Bullying Program
Hollister Creative created "Stand Up to Bullying," a joint effort of the musical "Wicked" & the Center for Social and Emotional Education.
Wynnewood, PA, July 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The prize-winning education team of Hollister Creative has been chosen to produce a national anti-bullying program that will be distributed to U.S. schools this fall as part of National Bullying Prevention Month in October.
The program, called “Stand Up to Bullying,” is a joint effort of the Broadway musical “Wicked” and the national BullyBust campaign of the Center for Social and Emotional Education.
The program for Grades 4-12 includes a “Stand Up to Bullying” Student Learning Guide and a Teacher Tool Kit with lessons designed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of bullying on victims, bystanders and bullies themselves.
The materials use the story and characters of “Wicked” and real-world examples from the news to show students how to take a stand against bullying by becoming “upstanders” — people who take action when bullying occurs instead of holding back as bystanders.
The materials will be delivered in print and online in partnership with education programs of newspapers around the country and newspaper websites.
The Center for Social and Emotional Education is a non-profit service organization whose mission is to promote a positive school climate and create “a safe, supportive environment that nurtures social and emotional, ethical, and academic skills” for all students.
Prior to this project, Hollister Creative and its education division Hollister Kids created a national safe schools and respect program for the Operation Respect Foundation founded by Peter, Paul and Mary singer Peter Yarrow. That program won national honors from the Association of Educational Publishers in its annual Distinguished Achievement Awards competition.
The work of the Hollister Creative/Hollister Kids education team has been honored for excellence 58 times in the last 13 years in national competitions for education publishing.
