Econtact Pro is Updated for the Enterprise-Ready iPhone iOS 4

As Apple seeks to get iPhones into the hands of business, Econtact Pro finds new opportunities.

San Francisco, CA, July 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- This week faberNovel released an updated iOS-4-compatible version of Econtact Pro, their popular business card scanning app. Econtact Pro was awarded first place by the judges at SF App Pitch and was recently featured by the App Store as one of the best business and networking solutions. The app looks to be a standard tool for salespeople, recruiters, and anyone with professional contacts to store in their iPhone.

New iOS 4 features—multi-tasking, email encryption, and administrative API's— have brought iPhones into the professional world opening up new opportunities for business and networking apps. Julian Nachtigal, VP of Business Development at Econtact Pro, says this is "a very exciting time for app developers. iPhone technology has so far not been seriously applied to business, but it has the potential to be very powerful."

Econtact Pro adds an unusual twist to iPhone technology using real people as an essential part of its solution. The app employs a network of transcribers to manually input all the business card data, plus any notes users add to the card. Anthony Ha of Venture Beat described the system as a “more reliable” alternative to the OCR technology used by other business card scanning apps.

With Econtact Pro users snap a photo of a business card, which is then sent for transcription and automatically synced with the iPhone. Capturing and sending the cards takes less than 10 seconds per card, allowing over 20 cards to be “read” in just three minutes. The system is an improvement over OCR–based card reader apps that take up to 10x times longer and often misreads cards.

Asked what's ahead for Econtact Pro, Nachtigal said, "We are looking to create an enterprise solution for CRM providers by white labeling and integrating with their apps. We’d also like to form partnerships with companies that employ large sales forces and start doing more bulk sales. Also ahead are Blackberry and Android versions.”

To date over 125,000 business credits have been bought with Econtact Pro.

Econtact Pro is available now in the iTunes App Store and is currently running a promotion that allows users to have their first 10 business cards transcribed for free. After the first 10, users can purchase bulk packages of transcription credits in package sizes of 10 cards, 100 cards, or 500 cards—costing between $0.10 and $0.20 per card depending on the package. Econtact Pro is giving away a limited number of free download codes; get one by following @econtactpro and tweeting “I want my free @econtactpro download.” Supported devices include Apple iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G (OS 3.0 or later) with close–up lenses.
