If you believe you have a yellow jacket colony in or around your home:
- Do not try to close up the entrance of the colony, the insects will panic and spread throughout the home.
- Do not spray the colony from the outside, as it will force the insects further into your home, often into the living space.
- Do not use gasoline, kerosene or any other explosive product to “burn out” the colony.
- Do not poke or touch any discolored or wet spots on walls or ceilings, as breaking the barrier will agitate the aggressive insects.
If yellow jackets have already chewed through a wall, try to cover the opening with a piece of cardboard and tape to secure the opening or close all doors to the room if possible and seal the bottom with a towel.
