Panther Lights Up Horse Guard’s Parade
Lutterworth, United Kingdom, July 29, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Just as the sun was setting over the magnificent Horse Guard’s Parade in London, an army of Panther machines provided dramatic lighting for the hundreds of spectators fortunate enough to witness The Household Division Beating Retreat.
The ceremony, on the historic parade ground was floodlit by four machines, made up of three S50-D diesel scissor lifts and one B60-D articulated boom lift supplied by Panther.
Panther Area Sales Manager Tania Simmons said: “Panther’s lengthy experience supporting a wide range of events stood us in good stead. But we knew this was a bit different, especially when we were dealing directly with Adrian Beckett, the Colour Sergeant of the Band of the Welsh Guards.
“It was clear there was a requirement to meet the very highest standards, in terms of technical performance and safety, expected at such a prestigious event. We made sure we were fully compliant with stringent security requirements and that the machines supplied were as well turned out as the marching bands performing on the evening!”
The evening began with the Massed Mounted Bands of the Household Cavalry and a musical drive from the Life Guards and the Blues and Royals. The Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery, complete with canons firing, were next to perform, followed by the Corps of Drums of the Grenadier Guards, Welsh Guards and Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.
Following a performance by the Scots Guards Association Pipes and Drums, the highlight of the evening came with a stirring finale. A lone piper played from the battlements before making way for over 200 musicians of the massed bands of the Coldstream, Grenadier, Welsh, Irish and Scots Guards to march onto the parade ground.
Colour Sergeant Adrian J Beckett MBE said: “The service provided by Panther Platforms from the very beginning was outstanding. Tania Simmons at Panther was available at all times for help and advice for this unique hire and event.”
