Canadian Military Extends Contract with Polaris Health Directions for Its Mental Health Assessment System
The Canadian Department of National Defense will continue its use of Polaris-MH (mental health), a computer-based behavioral health assessment that supports clinicians as they plan, manage and improve the mental health treatment of adults.
Langhorne, PA, July 29, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Canadian Department of National Defense has extended its contract with Polaris Health Directions for the continued use of Polaris-MH (mental health), a computer-based behavioral health assessment that supports clinicians as they plan, manage and improve the mental health treatment of adults.
The Stadacona clinic, a medical facility in Halifax, N.S. that serves the Canadian military, has been using Polaris-MH to support the evaluation and treatment of the Canadian Forces since 2006.
"It is very gratifying to hear from the staff at Stadacona that Polaris-MH has played an important role supporting the treatment of Canadian soldiers as they deal with the stresses of military service, including those returning from overseas deployments,” said Dr. Grant Grissom, president of Polaris. “We are proud to be part of their support system.”
As part of the agreement, Polaris will customize Polaris-MH to include a French language version for the assessment, which includes mental health and addictive disorders components. In addition, the enhanced system will measure a patient’s progress in relation to an Expected Treatment Response (ETR), an evidence-based method to help clinicians determine whether treatment is working. The ETR is derived from an extensive database of clinical outcomes and adjusted for the severity of the patient’s symptoms and the patient’s treatment history, motivation and strengths. The patient’s progress is monitored in relation to the ETR.
Polaris-MH screens for strengths and resilience, general health problems, vocational and social functioning, substance abuse and behavioral and mental health conditions. With a strong foundation in science and real world testing, the system helps health care organizations improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of services and document outcomes. About Polaris Health Directions
At Polaris, we recognize that organizations cannot manage what they do not measure. Many behavioral health care providers and payers may not be collecting and analyzing enough of the right data to answer basic questions about the effectiveness of the care they offer. Polaris's advanced technology and science driven assessment systems are designed to capture the clinical data essential to quality improvement and enhanced organizational management. Polaris solutions provide advanced analytics to help you improve and demonstrate to your customers the value of your care. With a focus on prediction, Polaris solutions do more than describe clinical change. Our systems also indicate if treatment is likely to have a positive result.
