Mbop Roster's Taste to Release Going Live! Spectacular
One of the leading players in the pioneering Irish blues scene and featuring original members John Wilson and Richard McCracken, Mbop roster's Taste are to release a live album from their San Francisco concert in front of 30,000 fans.
London, United Kingdom, July 31, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Intrinsically linked with the scene for more than four decades, leading lights of Irish blues music, Taste, are now set to follow-up their 2002 comeback album, Wall To Wall, with two new releases on Disonic Records.
First up is a taster EP entitled ...Going Live! which is available now, this will be followed by a full length album entitled Live In San Francisco - The Complete Concert. This is set for release on September 27.
Recorded in front of 30,000 fans in San Francisco’s Washington Square, this joyous album captures the veteran blues rockers on stellar form performing such classics as Same Old Story and Morning Sun plus a barn-storming rendition of drummer John Wilson’s worldwide hit, Gloria, from his time in Them – featuring Van Morrison’s daughter Shauna in playful mood on vocals.
Originally the vehicle which helped drive mercurial guitarist Rory Gallagher to worldwide acclaim in the late 1960s, Taste’s beguiling blend of blues, jazz, folk and rock on their first two releases – Taste and On The Boards - brought them to the attentions of rock giants Cream and Blind Faith, who the band opened for on tour in America and Canada. Their live pinnacle came in the summer of 1969 though, when they performed alongside Jimi Hendrix and The Who at the seminal Isle Of Wight Festival.
Gallagher left the Cork-formed outfit to go solo in 1970 to huge success before tragically dying in 1995 after complications following a liver transplant - aged just 47.
Wilson later reconvened the band for the Wall To Wall album with original member Richard McCracken and guitarist/vocalist Sam Davidson and they are currently in the studio with Manda from Morcheeba working on a new version of Gloria. The three-piece recently completed a European tour and will return to the Emerald Isle in August for two shows at the Woodstock Blues Festival in Belfast – the city they originally made their name in all those years ago.
