Vetro Restaurant & Lounge Earns the Wine Spectator's 2010 Award of Excellence
Howard Beach, NY, July 31, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Vetro Restaurant & Lounge, the new contemporary Italian restaurant & lounge overlooking Jamaica Bay in Howard Beach, has just been awarded the 2010 Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence to be featured in the Wine Spectator’s August 31 issue.
The Wine Spectator award of excellence honors wine lists that generally offer at least 100 well-chosen selections that are clearly presented and appropriately paired with the restaurant’s cuisine. Vetro’s extensive wine cellar includes more than 345 selections from nearly every Italian wine-producing region, along with well-curated offerings from elsewhere in Europe, the Americas, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Significantly, nearly half the bottles are priced below $50. “There are some exceptional values here, including many wines that are sold for much more at other restaurants,” notes PJ Connolly, sommelier and general manager. But I want people to feel free to try different wines, and discover new tastes they might not have known before.” In keeping with this approach, Vetro also offers more than two dozen wines by the glass and celebrates “Wine and Dine Wednesdays” when you can enjoy half price on select bottles.
Since its opening in October 2009, this new venture from the owners of the legendary local caterer Russo’s On The Bay has quickly caused a buzz among serious foodies with executive chef Michael DeGeorgio’s innovative interpretation of Italian cuisine. Now, with its waterfront outdoor patio and rooftop lounge open for the summer, Vetro is more than ever a culinary destination for all seasons – and for all food-lovers.
In addition to earning the Wine Spectators’ Award of Excellence Vetro has earned top ratings by OpenTable’s Diners’ Choice™.
