Xceed Develops Corporate Sustainability Programs
Cairo, Egypt, August 06, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The connection between business performance and society welfare has never been so salient. Corporations of all sizes are focusing on the issue of corporate social responsibility with a new lens that involves a more holistic view of the impact of stakeholder engagements in the course of business, on the society and the environment. Xceed is aware of this and that businesses can not continue to exist and grow except within a sustainable community. The organization has been undertaking strategic initiatives with regards to corporate versus environmental and social development and it is soaring with its efforts to establish a model for corporate sustainability and social responsibility in the region. Xceed is in process of accrediting its efforts through seeking to fulfill the GRI standards, an internationally recognized entity that assesses economic performance, environmental practices, human rights, and social welfare within companies and in the community in which they operate.
Recognizing the role Xceed plays in creating sustained economic development within the communities, which is only achievable through human resources development, Xceed is continuously running development programs to increase the literacy and soft skills of youth in the community. Xceed partnered with a local NGO, Nahdet El Mansouria, and established a Community Technology Center (CTC) in cooperation with Microsoft, to provide underserved individuals with free technology skills trainings. This center provides an opportunity for underserved individuals in the community to improve their quality of life through education and employment by earning a Microsoft Digital Literacy certificate. Since the inception of this center, 700 individuals have graduated. Xceed also employs a number of these graduates, as a way to contribute to national efforts to come up with creative solutions to employment challenges.
Furthermore, Environmental awareness is key to Xceed's sustainable corporate development. Xceed strives to "Go Green" across all operational levels deploying environmentally safe equipment in addition to engaging employees throughout the company on issues related to the environment through awareness campaigns. As a result, Xceed has successfully achieved the ISO 14001: 2004 Enviromental Management Standard which focuses on ensuring that certified companies have processes in place to control emissions and drive waste management. Among the recent efforts that Xceed has undertaken to reinforce environmental awareness among its employees is running a company-wide paper recycling campaign in cooperation with Nahdet El Mansouriya NGO. This campaign serves the dual purpose of paper recycling and directing money obtained from recycling towards charitable activities as the NGO sells the recyclable paper to fund charity programs.
On that matter, Dr. Adel Danish, Xceed Chairman & CEO, commented “Every enterprise is linked to the well-being and prosperity of its community in which it lives and serves. We’ve always known that we can not have a healthy, growing business unless our communities are strong and sustainable.”
