VectorLearning a Finalist for the Tampa Bay Small Business of the Year Award
VectorLearning, Inc., the leading provider of online education for the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) industries with RedVector and the long-term healthcare industry with Care2Learn, has been named a finalist for the prestigious 2010 Small Business of the Year Award in the 51-250 employees category.
Tampa, FL, August 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- For the second consecutive year, VectorLearning is in elite company as the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce narrows the field of the best small businesses in the Bay Area to just a handful.
The award will be presented by the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce in a ceremony held on September 24, 2010.
Semi-finalists are chosen from the initial round of entries based largely on criteria found in their applications. The next round entails an in-depth, in-person interview with the head executive of each company, conducted by the chamber’s award panel. The finalists are chosen based on the results of those interviews, and depend upon how well the company represents itself in a number of predetermined key areas.
VectorLearning’s CEO, Tom Wallace, says he is proud that both his company’s business and participation in the community are ultimately focused on enabling people to advance through education.
“VectorLearning’s goal has always been to make education readily available to the people who need it most to stay competitive in their industries,” says Wallace. “We’ve found that what we do – deliver top-quality education online – attracts team members who are intrinsically interested in bettering themselves and the world around them. So, we’ve had the good fortune of finding that an obsession with quality and the desire to give back to the community comes naturally to most of our staff.”
In fact, the company conducted a voluntary survey about independent donations to worthy causes, and came up with startling numbers: In addition to the 600 corporation-sponsored volunteer hours employees logged over the past year for Susan G. Komen and Habitat for Humanity, the study found that RedVector team members personally volunteered a total of 2,274 service hours in their communities and made almost $8,000-worth of private cash donations.
