Glassboro, NJ, August 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- We have all seen the signs driving by storage centers advertising auctions of unpaid units. The auction company opens the doors and buyers have a few minutes to stand outside, look in, and then place bids. Bidders normally see lots of boxes, household goods, maybe some furniture or lawn equipment. The excitement comes from taking a gamble that there is something inside they can use or sell. “When we received a call from one of our regular clients that he found a stamp collection in a storage unit he purchased, we figured it would be four or five binders,” says Auctioneer Carolyn F. Mattox of Claytree Auctions. “But when he started bringing in the boxes, they just kept coming! So far we have cataloged over 1000 individual pieces and we still have boxes that have not been opened yet.”
Claytree Auctions has included 900 US Postage First Day of Issue Covers (stamps and envelopes with cancellation mark of the issuing post office) in this week’s Coins, Currency and Stamps Auction. This group covers cache and non-cache envelopes from 1975 to 1982. Carolyn added “The original collector much have been very dedicated to complete as many sets as are in the collection. All of the pieces are in excellent condition.”
The auction catalog is currently online @ LiveAuctioneers.com - seller "Claytree" - bids will be accepted until 4pm (eastern) on Sunday August 8, 2010. Additional sales of early issue Stamps, First Day of Issue Covers, Embossed Envelopes and Airmail Stamps will be announced.
