Arvel Bird to Entertain Audiences at the Lucius Woods Performing Arts Center

“Lord of the Strings” Arvel Bird, a classically trained violinist and Native American flutist with a flawless talent and a passion to inspire audiences worldwide, will headline the Music in the Park Series at the Lucius Woods Performance Arts Center, Solon Springs, WI, on Saturday, August 14, at 7 p.m.
Arvel Bird uses his mixed-blood Native American heritage (Southern Paiute Indian and Scottish) to create a repertoire like none before. His music is a universal blend of foot-tapping Celtic fiddling, mixed with new age, classical and blues/rock.
His charismatic performances go beyond the music. An expressive storyteller, he weaves Native American spirituality and stories to connect his music with its meaning. The stories are compelling and give vision to the music. He speaks of Native American wisdom, covering subjects such as the sacredness of Mother Earth, nature, and the power of the animals with whom we share this planet. Bird speaks of Native American history and traditions, which have relevance in today’s high-tech, often stress-filled world.
In 2009, he won Best Instrumental Album and Best Producer at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (CAMA). In 2007, Arvel was named Artist of the Year at the Native American Music Awards (Nammys). That same year he won Best Instrumental Album for the re-released Animal Totems at the CAMAs in Toronto. His newest album, Ride Indian Ride, just released, is a departure from his more traditional cultural music, with an edgier blues/rock sound that blends his Native American/Celtic roots with a stronger, more soulful beat.
