Skin Care From the Past – Part 2: Skincare and the 1960s
Skincare News fast-forwards skin care 10 years to the 1960s.
Sacramento, CA, December 21, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Skin care, like many things in life, tends to change shape and form as the years go by. Skincare-News.com’s latest article, “Blast From The Skincare Past (Part 2)” examines the skincare and beauty industry during the 1960s. http://www.skincare-news.com/articles.php?ArtID=227
While the 1950s were all about youth and innocence, the 1960s took a different perspective on beauty:
Dark dramatic eyes were all the rage, a look achieved with an abundance of mascara and colored eye shadow. As for the skincare on the general face, translucent powder and super pale lipsticks were a regular contrast to the dark and sultry eyes.
As you may or may not have noticed, false eyelashes are all the rage today. But they also had their popular beginnings as well during the 1960s:
False eyelashes were also a very popular skincare and cosmetics item among TV and movie stars, and while the everyday woman probably did not usually bother getting so done up, the green and blue eye shadows were definitely a must have.
Eye makeup was a huge focal point in 1960s makeup, where more was considered better:
If you were a skincare and cosmetics guru in the 1960s, then all of your focus both during the day and at evening, was on the eyes. Drama was the name of the skincare game, and the darker and thicker the eyelashes, and the more colorful and eye catching the lids, the more alluring you were considered to be.
According to skin care expert, Samantha Peterman, she will continue to write articles about makeup and skincare of the past. “Beauty is different according to each era and it’s interesting to see how makeup and skin care has had to transform to fit each decade’s needs and demands. I think readers will be fascinated by the topic just as much as I am.” http://www.skincare-news.com/articles.php?ArtID=227
