DirectRooms.com – Sponsored Walk in Perth on 12 September Helps People with Parkinson’s
DirectRooms.com announces that Parkinson’s Unity Walk will be taking place in Perth to help raise funds for people suffering with the disease.
Perth, Australia, August 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The event is part of a series of walks that will be taking place across Australia in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
More than 80,000 Australians are affected by Parkinson’s disease and it’s the second most common degenerative neurological condition with no known cause, prevention or cure.
People staying in a Perth hotel are invited to come along and take part to help raise funds to support services and research.
The walk will be taking place around Perry Lakes Reserve which is an 80 hectare green reserve with two large lakes. People interested in taking part should be there for registration at 09:00am, with the actual start commencing from 11:00am on Sunday 12th September 2010.
Registration costs 20 Australian Dollars for adults, 15 dollars for children aged 5-15 and 0-5 year olds are free. The walk consists of a 4km course and organizers say it should take approximately one hour at a leisurely pace.
For the individual who raises the most funds there is a special prize courtesy of Great Southern Rail. The winner will be given two one way tickets on the Indian Pacific in Gold Service class, travelling from Perth to Sydney or Sydney to Perth.
Lek Boonlert, head of marketing for DirectRooms.com, said: “This is a great way to raise vital funds for people with Parkinson’s and their carers. The event will see hundreds of walkers taking part so people should book their accommodation early before heading to Perth.”
