HearPlanet and Clout Mobile Games First iPhone Apps on appbackr Wholesale Digital Marketplace

iPhone and iPad App Developers Turn to appbackr to Find Wholesale Buyers and Expand Distribution Channels

Palo Alto, CA, August 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- appbackr, the first wholesale digital marketplace for iPhone and iPad applications, announces that HearPlanet and Clout Mobile Games have become inaugural developers on its marketplace. HearPlanet (www.hearplanet.com), audio guide developers with applications for iPhone and Android, and Clout Mobile Games (www.cloutmobile.com), creators of the Crosswords Cubed mobile app, are the first developers to sell wholesale copies of their iPhone applications with appbackr. Both developers plan to use the appbackr marketplace to explore new market channels.

Launched in July, appbackr is the first of its kind to unite Apple iOS application developers with wholesale buyers. Developers drive early revenue and efficiently distribute their applications while buyers are able to profit from the iTunes App Store for the first time and promote sales of emerging mobile applications. Developers list their apps with appbackr, either in the concept or finished stage, maintaining control over the number of applications sold on the marketplace and who is eligible to purchase wholesale apps. The wholesale buyer makes volume purchases of a developer’s app directly from the developer in the appbackr marketplace, earning a 51 percent profit once their app units sell on the iTunes Store. All sales are conveniently done through appbackr and PayPal, allowing buyers and sellers to concentrate on creating great apps and selling more copies.

For Andy Harrison, founder of Clout Mobile Games, appbackr offers an opportunity for new game development. Clout Mobile already has a strong following for Crosswords Cubed, which has consistently ranked in the top 10 for word games on popular sites such as UCLICK Games and Shockwave. "appbackr provides a new kind of financial ecosystem for mobile app development," said Harrison. "Mobile app development doesn’t yield the kind of profits to attract venture funding, but appbackr provides the infrastructure to make it easy for family, friends and retail business partners to participate in the new mobile marketplace. We expect appbackr to be a real boon in helping us bring new mobile games to market," Harrison added.

Steven Echtman’s company, HearPlanet, currently offers a free and a premium version of its popular iPhone application seen in iPhone ads. Echtman sees appbackr as a great way to help fund additional features and form strategic partnerships to increase market share.

“We see appbackr as a great way to provide some up-front cash, while allowing wholesale buyers to profit, and drive more sales,” said Echtman. “The wholesale payments we receive through appbackr can help us accelerate features we're working on right now. appbackr is a great concept and it really feels like a win-win.”
