Shenita Williams is Coming Back to Her Recently Renovated Home by Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay
St. Petersburg, FL, August 13, 2010 --(PR.com)-- On Tuesday, August 24, Shenita Williams, the aunt of Paris Whitehead Hamilton, is coming back to her home after weeks of substantial renovations completed by Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay (RTTB), in partnership with the City of St. Petersburg, members of the Tampa Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), and the Home Depot Foundation. The work included making the house more energy efficient, safer and healthier. Ms. Williams never came back to her home after April 2009, when her niece Paris was killed in a drive-by shooting. It took several months of counseling, support and encouragement from friends and family for her to come back to claim her home.
This project is the last of several homes renovated in the Bartlett Park Neighborhood by RTTB in a special partnership with the City of St. Petersburg and several local non-profit organizations on Rebuilding Day in April 2010. Several state and local officials, media, and corporations joined Rebuilding Together leaders and over 600 volunteers for this project. A group of volunteers will complete all interior and exterior painting and landscaping between Thursday, August 19 and Friday, August 20.
The City of St. Petersburg Mayor, members of the City Council, government departments, and the media were invited to attend this event to walk through the house with Shenita. On that day, RTTB Board and Staff will recognize, once again, the support and assistance of several corporations that were instrumental in making this project a reality for Shenita.
When: Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at 10:00 a.m.
Where: 771 Paris Avenue South, St. Petersburg, Florida
