Garden City, NY, August 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Adelphi University is proud to present “Feed the Models!” an exhibition of cut-outs of models, and large scale prints on aluminum, bamboo, and other media by Jane Gennaro, a New York-based artist in the Fine Arts Exhibition Hall in the Adele and Herbert J. Klapper Center for Fine Arts. The exhibition opens September 20, 2010 and runs through October 26, 2010 with a reception to be held on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Gennaro supplants the ideals of the female body with surreal and bizarre creations. By taking commercial images of the “ideal;” fashion models and celebrities alike, Gennaro intuitively cuts out a continuous line drawing with scissors, creating subjects with their own personalities.
Gennaro, artist, writer, actor, monologist, and voice-over artist, creates work that confronts viewers, soliciting further exploration of the superficial and transparent.
The Fine Arts Exhibition Hall is open Sunday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. For more information about this and other upcoming art exhibitions, please visit http://www.adelphi.edu/artmuseum/exhibitions/.
