The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler Selects Mitretek Systems as Preferred Technology Provider for Product Recall Management
Eastern Texas to benefit from use of Risk and Safety Management Alert System (RASMAS)
Falls Church, VA, December 22, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Mitretek Systems has entered into a three-year agreement with The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler to improve patient safety through the Risk and Safety Management Alert System (RASMAS) for its hospitals.
RASMAS is a web-based service that automates the distribution, receipt, and tracking of product alerts and recalls. It provides centralized recall oversight from a management perspective for alerts spanning across all products used in the healthcare environment.
The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler (UT Health Center) examined their recall processes and found that “adopting an automated recall solution would bring efficiency to the organization by ensuring consistent management of the numerous tasks associated with recalls,” says Tony Hill, Director of Environmental Health and Safety. “RASMAS alerts are comprehensive and are received sooner than were noted in our paper process. Automated distribution saves us time by sending alerts directly to the appropriate department. The delay notification feature keeps management informed about how the alert is being managed and ensures that we stay on top of an alert to completion.”
Subscribers report that using RASMAS has resulted, on average, in an 80 percent reduction in alert processing time, as well as a dramatic decrease in the number of days from notification to removal of products from use. Patients receiving care at the UT Health Center facility will now have the added safeguard of RASMAS to ensure their care does not potentially include use of a recalled product.
