Georgia Statewide Healthcare/Eldercare Conference – A Phenomenal Success

Cornerstone Association, Inc. (CAI) hosted this event to help micro-entrepreneurs coping with the challenges of growing pains in capturing more of the Healthcare/Eldercare marketshare. In collaboration with federal, state and local agencies, CAI accomplished their mission of empowering conference attendees with the tools to help them grow their small/micro businesses.

Macon, GA, August 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Cornerstone Association, Inc. (CAI) hosted this event to help micro-entrepreneurs coping with the challenges of growing pains in capturing more of the Healthcare/Eldercare marketshare. In collaboration with federal, state and local agencies, CAI accomplished their mission of empowering conference attendees with the tools to help them grow their small/micro businesses.

Wednesday, August 10, 2010 was day was packed with programs and events comprised of speakers, panelists, and vendors. The speakers were: Dr. Michael Moye, President of Central Georgia Technical College, who greeted everyone during the breakfast program and welcome them to the campus; Joseph Larche, Assistant to the Commission of Georgia Department of Labor, was the keynote speaker at the morning program; Geri Ward, Director of Middle Georgia Regional Agency on Aging, discussed the state of the eldercare industry and where service providers can locate healthcare resources for their organizations; April Jackson, a senior partner with Banks, Jackson and Middleton Financial Services, served as the keynote speaker during the afternoon program sharing information with participants on capacity building and sustainability. Randolph Merriweather, a CAI board member, served as the Moderator for the entire day. Ecleamus Ricks, Healthcare Georgia Foundation board member and Kerne Middleton, of the macon Housing Authority were also on program to introduce the keynote speakers.

There were four training sessions comprised of the following topics and panelists: 1) “Regional Community Service Organizations” - Scarlette Harper, Macon Housing Authority, Starr Purdue, Hutchins Funeral Home, and Patricia Simmons, USDA Rural Development; 2) “Creating A Patient-Centric Healthcare Enterprise” – Nicky Gary, Macon-Bibb County Health Department, and Ashley Molony, Central Georgia Technical College, 3) “Access to Markets” - Mike Roberts, RCI (Roberts Communications Incorporated) and Patricia F. Duncan, (Wonderland Support Services, LLC); 4) “Business Financial Resources” - Clayton Black, Middle Georgia Regional Commission; Johanna Twersky, ACCION USA, Georgia, Gisele Harris, Rising Star Consulting Service, Inc., and Christopher Gibson, BB&T Bank.

The major sponsors for this event were Georgia Micro Enterprise Network, and the Healthcare Georgia Foundation.
