According to the 2008 U.S. Dept. Of Commerce/Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Floriculture Industry is a $20.1B market that includes the sale of Floriculture Item Sales (flowers, plants and related goods) at All Floral Outlets (retail florists, mass marketers, other outlets). "With Miami handling 85% of the 165,000 tons of fresh flowers imported every year, South Florida is the ideal place to let Ribbons and Roses blossom," shares Jessica Gitlitz of the company's concept. "Since the sale of flowers for weddings account for approximately 10% of retail floral business, we wanted to partner with florists in Boca Raton and South Florida who have demonstrated that they are environmentally conscious companies. Florists have always known that flowers make people happy, but now Rutgers University is helping put concrete scientific proof behind those ideas. Recently, they released the results of a six-month behavioral study on the health effects of flowers on senior citizens. The study demonstrates that flowers ease depression, inspire social networking and refresh memory as we age. With hectic schedules and demands on their time, most busy adults today simply don’t have the time to volunteer and get involved within their own community.
