Ribbons and Roses Offers Environmentally Conscious Consumers Green Alternative to Wasting Wedding Flower Arrangements and Promotes the Power of Flowers

Ribbons and Roses is an organization that is putting a whole new spin on renewable resources. With a creative approach to giving back, Ribbons and Roses is helping brides (and grooms) share the joy from their special day by providing a way to avoid wasting their wedding flowers. In a revolutionary concept, Ribbons and Roses created a web portal to 'marry' brides with florists who would coordinate the donation of their wedding flower arrangements to a charitable outlet of their choice.

Boca Raton, FL, August 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Good Will is Blossoming in the Sunshine State.

Ribbons and Roses Offers Environmentally Conscious Consumers A Green Alternative To Wasting Wedding Flower Arrangements and Promotes The Power Of Flowers.

Thought recycling only applied to bottles, paper and other such items that are a part of our day-to-day lives? Think again. In that way, people in hospitals, nursing homes, hospice or other places where the power of flowers are especially beneficial, would be able to enjoy the beauty the flowers have to offer after they have served their original purpose as wedding ceremony flowers.

According to the 2008 U.S. Dept. Of Commerce/Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Floriculture Industry is a $20.1B market that includes the sale of Floriculture Item Sales (flowers, plants and related goods) at All Floral Outlets (retail florists, mass marketers, other outlets). "With Miami handling 85% of the 165,000 tons of fresh flowers imported every year, South Florida is the ideal place to let Ribbons and Roses blossom," shares Jessica Gitlitz of the company's concept. "Since the sale of flowers for weddings account for approximately 10% of retail floral business, we wanted to partner with florists in Boca Raton and South Florida who have demonstrated that they are environmentally conscious companies. Imagine our excitement to find so many of them," continued Ms. Gitlitz, the company's head of Community Relations.

Florists have always known that flowers make people happy, but now Rutgers University is helping put concrete scientific proof behind those ideas. Recently, they released the results of a six-month behavioral study on the health effects of flowers on senior citizens. The study demonstrates that flowers ease depression, inspire social networking and refresh memory as we age. With hectic schedules and demands on their time, most busy adults today simply don’t have the time to volunteer and get involved within their own community. This program puts 'giving back' within their reach. Spreading the power of flowers and promoting the emotional and behavioral benefits they have to offer, has never been easier.

About Ribbons and Roses
Ribbons and Roses is a program where brides can donate their wedding flowers to hospitals, nursing homes, pediatric units, or other charitable outlets where patients and residents may be able to enjoy the beauty the flowers have to offer. Brides join Ribbons and Roses and Go Beyond Green so they can take joy from their special day and share it with someone else. By using a simple web portal, brides are connected with participating florists in Boca Raton and South Florida. The bride receives a $100 gift certificate toward the total price of flowers for her wedding and the florist then honors the $100 toward their order and after the wedding, will take the flowers to a charitable organization of the bride's choice, such as hospitals, nursing homes and hospices, pediatric units, and funeral homes, among others.
