Westerville North High School Building Winners in a Partnership with Athletic Scholarship Corporation
School partners with group that will help market student-athletes to universities throughout the nation.
Westerville, OH, August 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Westerville North High School can boast of five team state championships and 27 individual state championships.
The school can point to a large number of all-American and all-state student-athletes, but the goal now is to give student-athletes at Westerville North High School a leg up on the athletic competition when they look to college.
The school has recently hired a company that specializes in promoting student-athletes to universities.
“The athletic boosters along with the athletic department are excited to offer this service to assist our student-athletes,” said Jeff Will, athletic director at Westerville North High School. “We are excited at the possibility of helping the student-athletes gain more knowledge of scholarship availability.”
Athletic Scholarship Corporation’s sole purpose is to promote athletes to coaches and recruiters from universities across the nation. While Westerville North has had success in doing this on its own, Will believes utilizing the expertise of ASC will help to simply the process.
Head football Coach Mike Owens agrees.
“We’re excited for this partnership,” he said. “I look forward to the results this year on the field. The chance to see these kids play at a higher level is very exciting.”
Owens said the senior members of the football team are especially excited by the opportunities they might be offered through the promotion they’ll get from ASC.
“They realize they have a legitimate shot at playing at the next level. This is a real opportunity to do that,” Owens said.
The president of Westerville North High School’s football booster club said he is excited to see what ASC can bring to the table for the school’s student-athletes.
“We hope it draws attention to the support the booster club and alumni are trying to give the school,” said Bert Cousins, president of the Touchdown Club. “This program will show the community we are trying to help (the student-athletes) achieve success.”
ASC works with the coaches, student-athletes, parents and school staff to help highlight each student-athlete in a positive light. The organization provides access to a profile page for each student-athlete which college coaches and athletic directors can access. There, they’ll find highlight reels, photos, athletic achievements, and biographical information.
