Local Attorney, Arey W. Grady, III Concludes Successful Term as Board Chair of Craven Smart Start

Arey Grady of New Bern-based Sumrell Sugg Attorneys at Law recently concluded his sixth and final year on the Craven Smart Start Board of Directors.

New Bern, NC, August 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Since his initial appointment to the Craven Smart Start Board of Directors in 2004, Grady helped lead the organization by assuming roles of increasing responsibility, including service on the executive committee since 2006 and as Vice-Chairman during 2008-2009, and culminating with service as Board Chairman in his final year. In each position, he reports great personal satisfaction in helping Craven Smart Start achieve its goals.

“Being able to give back to the community in this way has been so rewarding for me personally,” Mr. Grady reflects. “As we all know, our community’s future is represented by our children. So by focusing on the needs of young children and their families, we’re able to help affect positive, lasting change.”

“I’m so proud of all the ways Smart Start helps children in our area,” Grady observes. “I can think of no higher pursuit than offering children a solid foundation and a chance at a successful, productive future. By early intervention with evidence-based programs, we can make sure every Craven County child enters kindergarten healthy and ready to succeed, which is Craven Smart Start’s primary mission. We’re helping shape the future of Craven County and North Carolina in ways that benefit us all.”

“We at Sumrell Sugg are committed to civic programs and organizations that benefit all aspects of our community, and I am especially grateful to be a partner in a law firm that not only allows community and civic involvement, but actually encourages it. The legal profession holds a special trust from society in general, and it’s our obligation as individual attorneys to repay that trust through community and civic involvement. I am just so fortunate to have had the opportunity through Smart Start to put my firm’s community involvement philosophy into action,” Mr. Grady concludes.
