New Release by William Auman Gives History Lesson, Waterway Adventures to Paddlers of All Ages; Released by Dog Ear Publishing
Alexander, NC, August 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Explore the waterways of North Carolina by canoe or kayak, discovering the wonders of this historic state, once home to Edward Teach (better known as the pirate Blackbeard), Daniel Boone, Fort San Juan, the Lost Colony and the Cherokee. This guidebook focuses on family oriented wilderness experiences, presented in a historical context. Striking black and white photos illustrate the area’s stark beauty. This book and a few simple strokes of a paddle will take families back to a simpler time and provide an unforgettable adventure.
Pioneer Paddling, published by Dog Ear Publishing, begins its exploration with sections on searching for Blackbeard’s ghost, followed by coastal swamp adventures and Appalachia. Children and safety issues are also addressed, and the reader can search for dinosaurs by canoe. The guidebook is designed to provide a broad base of opportunities for travelers to create their own experiences. Each section starts with historic information and offers tips on the art of paddling in those waters. Readers are invited to bring not only their life vests, watercraft and paddles, but also their imagination to fully explore the majestic waterways of Carolina.
Author William Auman grew up southeast of Raleigh, moving to the Appalachian mountains in 1986, and has more than 35 years of experience on the water. Perhaps best known as a trial and appellate attorney, he is a former USPTR tennis professional and high school basketball and tennis coach. He presently maintains offices in Asheville and Marshall, and also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina-Asheville.
