Mission Viejo, CA, August 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Big Kahuna Jamie Sterling continues his success on the Big Wave World Tour (BWWT), this time taking first place at the Billabong Pico Alto Invitational in Peru on Thursday. Sterling elaborated to reporters after the competition why it was such a special victory.
“I’m very emotional since this is the first time I have won a Big Wave World Tour event,” said Sterling.
The win, coupled with his fourth place finish at Punte de Lobos in May, puts sterling at the top of the BWWT rankings with 1690 points. However, the win did not come easy for him.
Riders faced waves that reached more than 35 feet high, breaking boards and keeping some from being able to finish their runs. But in the end the Big Kahuna prevailed, fending off the reigning big wave champion Carlos Burle of Brazil. Sterling will try to carry his momentum to Oregon for the Nelscott Reef Classic, the third BWWT event of the season.
Jamie Sterling is a member of the EFX Performance, inc. team of sponsored athletes. He, like many others, utilizes a variety of EFX products from the holographic dot that can be seen on his boards to wristbands and necklaces to get an edge on the competition.
