A Meditation on Essence of Being and Life: Kàkos™ Prose & Poetry, Published by Outskirts Press
Anaheim Hills, CA, February 02, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Poet Kakós Kàkos announced today the release of his new volume of poetry and prose, Kàkos™ Prose & Poetry, published by Outskirts Press. Spanning the mountains and the seas, our shared history and our unknown future, this collection of meditative poems offers readers an aesthetic and philosophical journey through nature, emotions and the ages.
Consisting of more than fifty, mostly free verse poems, everything from the genius of the butterfly to the senseless loss of a small Greek village during the Second World War.
The poet’s brilliantly chosen pen name, Kakós Kàkos, underscores the duality of emotion and universal energy his book encompasses with its reference to the God -- envisioned by the ancient Greek king, Acacus -- who could neither hurt or be hurt. Even today Greek villagers still use the dual meanings derived from the ancient Greek word “akakia” in the word “kakos,” which means “not bad” or “good” depending on which vowel is accompanied by an accent.
This broad theme of duality allows the poet to address both his painful childhood memories of wartime Greece in “Death of a Village” – in which he memorializes the village of Vlaherna and in the process preserves an important piece of history – while it also allows him to explore the universal and timeless theme of love, kinship and the power of nature in “Quest for the Most Beautiful,” in which a mother and son learn about themselves through being out in the wild.
ISBN: 978-1-4327-5035-0 Format: 5.5 x 8.5 paperback cream SRP: $16.95
Genre: Poetry/Continental European
